Middlesex County nonprofit receives 3 years of funding from Cummings Foundation

The O’Connell House has been selected as one of 150 recipients to receive funding through Cummings Foundation’s annual grant program, which awarded $35 million this year to support Massachusetts nonprofits that are based in and primarily serve Middlesex, Essex, and Suffolk counties, as well as Brookline, Dedham, Milton, Needham, Quincy, and Wellesley.

The O’Connell House is a 13-room residence that provides comprehensive services to women who have been trafficked. These women may be pregnant and/or have a small child. It is a place where dignity is restored, and healing can occur.

“The O’Connell House is honored to accept this OGR Grant Award to help support our mission of serving women who have been trafficked, along with their children. These funds will help us provide comprehensive services to help the victims become survivors as they heal from their trauma. We are very grateful for the award!” – Deb O’Hara-Rusckowski, Founder

This year’s grant recipients represent a wide range of causes, including housing and food insecurity, education, workforce development, healthcare, mental health services, social justice, immigrant support, and youth programming.

Since its founding, Cummings Foundation has awarded more than $650 million to Greater Boston nonprofits. The complete list of this year’s grant recipients, along with additional information about the Foundation and its grant programs, is available at CummingsFoundation.org.
